Recast zooms in on every click and as you type, smooths the cursor, shows your keystrokes and camera, and frames it all in a background. Applied when you export, never baked in.

Never baked in
ScreenCaptureKit writes raw HEVC video, your camera on its own track and a log of every click, key and cursor move.
One GPU compositor renders zoom, cursor, click effects, keystrokes, camera, annotations and background, live in the editor.
The same compositor renders the final MP4, in H.264 or HEVC, up to 4K.
In the editor
Recast zooms to fit the text field you type in, or follows the caret in editors and terminals. Key sounds play as you type and the cursor hides until you move it.
Turn on Record keystrokes and the keys you press appear in a pill: shortcuts only, or everything you type. Set its position, size, style and fade, and hide any pill on the timeline. Password fields are never recorded.
Your camera is recorded into its own track. Make it a circle or a rounded box, size and mirror it, add a border and shadow, move it while you record and it follows in the video, and hide it where you don't need it.
Draw arrows, shapes, text, highlights, blur and pixelate over the video. Each sits on a timeline layer for its own time range and zooms with the recording.
Record an area, a window or a whole display, with system audio, the microphone and your camera. A countdown, a control bar and the menu bar icon stop, restart or cancel the recording.
Trim, auto zoom on clicks and typing (adjust or add zooms on the timeline), cursor size and smoothing, click effects, click and typing sounds, keystrokes, your camera, annotations, audio levels, and a background with padding, rounded corners and a shadow.
Export to MP4 (H.264 or HEVC) at the recording's own size or at 1080p, 1440p or 4K.
Capture an area, a window or a display. The screenshot is copied and saved, and a thumbnail opens it in the markup editor: arrows, shapes, lines, text, emojis, numbered steps, highlight, blur and pixelate, crop, and Beautify. Select and copy the text in a screenshot, or use Capture Text to copy an area's text straight to the clipboard.
The Library and the menu's Recent Recordings and Recent Screenshots keep your work close. Recordings that stopped in a crash can be recovered.
Global shortcuts for every record and capture mode. Pick a built-in theme, follow macOS light and dark mode, or make your own.
Every record and capture mode can have a global shortcut. Record and capture an area are set up for you; change any of them in Settings.
